Uruguay vs England - Chivito Sandwich - World Cup Recipes

What's up everybody Louie here!

Apologies for the delay of this and the next blog post by myself, I have been busy picking up my pride off the floor after seeing my beloved country put in the worst performance of any England team, ever. Out after two games...

First Spain, now England and it was a very lackluster performance by the men in white. Gone was the energy and verve seen in the game against Italy, in was appalling defensive mistakes and lack of penetration that denotes a team of losers. Luis Suarez, not even fit, proved his genius once more and punished us by showing England what a world class player truly looks like.

Chivito Sandwiches though taste much much better than the bitter taste left in the mouth by their national team. National dish 1 Nation team 0. If you have an appetite and your a meat eater then this sandwich is the don. There is nothing in it I don't like; bread, steak and cheese. A man does not need any other food groups to be happy :)

INGREDIENTS (FOR 2):

2 fancy tasty tough bread rolls of your choice
2 beef fillet steaks (pounded thin)
4 streaks of bacon
1 big beef tomato
1 ball of mozzarella cheese (sliced)
2 eggs
1 red onion
lettuce
mayonnaise
ketchup
salt
pepper

INSTRUCTIONS:

1) Start off by frying off your bacon in a frying pan which has a little bit of oil in it. Fry it until it is nice and crispy and a bit brown. Once this is done set it aside on some kitchen towel
2)Slice and dice your lettuce, onion, tomato and mozzarella ready for assembly at the end
3) Boil your 2 eggs for 7 minutes - continue  with the rest of the steps whilst this is happening
4) Put your meat into some food storage bags and pound them thin. Ideally you would do this with a mallet, I didn't have such an item so improvised with my fists. (Rocky! ;) ) Rub salt and pepper into the beaten steaks
5) Heat your frying pan to a medium heat with some oil in it and carefully place the flattened steaks in for 3-4 minutes each side for medium - well (Increase time for well done and decrease cooking time for a rare juicy steak)
6) Your eggs should be ready now put them in cold water ready for peeling at the end
7) Put the meat on to a chopping board and allow to rest after cooking
8) Grill your bread slightly to make it warm and a little bit crispy on top
9) Spread mayonnaise lavishly on both sides of the bread. Place a base of lettuce and bacon.
10) Add your steak and then onion
11) Add tomato then mozzarella
12) Add the nicely cooked egg on top and press your sandwich down to get all the juices in together

If desired you can serve this with fries or salad
