Portugal vs Ghana - Portuguese Marinated Beef Skewer (Espetada) - World Cup Recipe

MEAT! These Portuguese beef skewers are amazing for barbecues and are full of flavour thanks to bay leaves and red wine vinegar. Let me soak in the marinade overnight for full flavour, but if you don't have the time (like us) don't you worry - they still taste amazing. To make it authentic Portuguese food you'll need hot coals...but hey your oven will just do as well.

INGREDIENTS

2 teaspoons salt
4 cloves of garlic, roughly chopped
1/2 Onion
3 bay leaves plus extra for grilling
1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
2 tablespoons olive oil
450 g good quality beef, cut in cubes
1 pepper

INSTRUCTIONS
1.  Mix the garlic pieces with the bay leaves, onion, pepper, wine vinegar, salt and olive oil in a shallow bowl.
2.  Now add the meat to the mix and coat it. Let it marinate as long as possible.
3.  Slice the peppers and stick the meat, then a pepper piece, then a bay leaf on a skewer.
4.  Grill over medium-heat. Adjust grill time to your desired doneness.
Enjoy!!!
